Things to do when you are in B.Tech(CSE)

✨Involve in Tech clubs:

Involving in tech clubs can increase students’ communication skills and interactive skills. Technical clubs are the place you can share your ideas and knowledge with your peers. Moreover, technical clubs are the best example of coming out of the box. Technical clubs are the best platforms for finding students’ areas of interest, and building leadership qualities, and interpersonal skills. We can get a good CGPA if we are good in our college academics but when it comes to placements or higher studies, we need to explore more in our area of interest, and involving in technical clubs gives us an idea of how to start with the technical stuff apart from our academics. We can interact with the seniors in the technical club and get many suggestions from them. Most importantly, involving in technical clubs value-add your resume. Recruiters not only look for the technical stuff, but also the leadership qualities, and we can showcase our participation in technical clubs in our resume.

✨Find your area of interest:

When we consider computer science, there are a lot of fields in it like designing, web development, software development, Artificial intelligence, Machine learning, etc. Each and every field need a separate skill-set. If we find our field of interest by exploring all the fields as soon as possible, we can concentrate on the skill sets we need to develop in the particular fields in which we are interested. There exist the interlinked fields, so if we start with one field first, we can explore the interlinked fields. Exploring and starting with one key as soon as possible is the key!!!

✨Work on Research paper:

Working on a research paper plays a major role in the resume. Exploring the existing concepts, finding a new problem statement, performing research on it, and coming up with a new solution is a long process also if we do it in our B.Tech, we get recognized in the crowd when it comes to placements or higher studies. Self-learning and having knowledge in our field of interest are the two main points needed to be considered when we are going to start a paper. The next task after completion of the research paper comes paper publication. Select the journal/conference related to your topic and proceed with the publication. If you need much information on the format of a research paper and how to publish a research paper, professors in the engineering college are always there to help you, you can also contact your seniors, or else you can watch some YouTube videos and read some articles on it.

✨Socialize and get connections:

Socializing is the most important thing when you are in a workplace or if you are studying in an institution. We can know the information and gain the knowledge when we socialize. Getting connections with our peers and seniors helps us a lot. We get to know about new technologies, we can share our ideas and also we can contact them if we are stuck in between learning something, for guidance. Sometimes for doing a project, various fields are needed. At that time connections who have knowledge on the topic other than what we know can help in completing the project. ✨Work on Projects:

Projects are the output of technical content that we learn. keeping the technical stuff that we know, to solve a real-life problem is said to be a project. Before doing projects, we need to explore the existing projects which are in our skillset. Further, we can come up with a new idea or we can also enhance the existing projects. Projects also play a major role in your resume. A recruiter can know your skill sets and problem-solving capacity through the projects which you have done. ✨Participate in hackathons:

Hackathons are timed events in which people are teamed up to work on a project. It’s like a competition. Generally, technical fields are listed out and people are asked to choose one and propose a project on the selected field. The best project wins the hackathon. Participating in hackathons builds the team working spirit and coordination between peers. This also helps us to explore a lot of technical content and it also increases our coding skills.

✨Be clear with the step you are going to take after completion of B.Tech:

When it comes to B.Tech computer science, there are three major options we have after completion of B.Tech.

1. Placements
2. Higher studies
3. Entrepreneurship

plan which one you are going to choose beforehand. So that you can totally concentrate on it. Many of the engineering colleges won’t provide LORs for your higher studies if you get a placement. So choose wisely whether you are going to sit for the placements or planning for higher studies.
